I am SOOOOO proud of what I just made! Well, truthfully I have been working on it for a little while now. Anyway, my school uses standards based grading which I love. I think that usually it makes things much easier because there it takes out all the guesswork. When we make a grade, we must have evidence for that grade. Well, there are these standards in reading and writing that I think are IMPOSSIBLE to find naturally in a students writing. Seriously, how am I supposed to see them using collective nouns properly in their writing workshop work? How about my ESL students and whether or not they use irregular verbs correctly. Most of the time they will totally avoid irregular verbs in their writing (and speaking) if they aren’t familiar with them. So how do you make them show you what they know? I just made an assessment that I hope will be able to get all this information out of my little ones! It is a bundle of Common Core assessments that covers all the Language standards. Some people had already made multiple choice tests that were really easy. But we want to see the students doing these skills more naturally, right? So these assessments are all open ended. I think any 2nd grade teacher who uses the Common Core ELA standards would be so lucky to have this! It can be downloaded from my TpT store here.
