I am a 30-something teacher who decided to pack up and move abroad. I am now in my sixth year of teaching at an incredible international school in Madrid, Spain.
Within the walls of my school, I feel like I am teaching in the U.S. We teach according to the Common Core standards. We order all of our supplies and curriculum from the states (thank goodness for Post-It brand sticky notes!) and we teach entirely in English. My students are one-third American, one-third Spanish, and one-third international. It is a wonderful place to teach!
Outside those walls, you will find me on a nearly constant quest to figure out life in another language! It is a big challenge and definitely not as easy as I thought it would be.
In August 2013, I married my best friend Shadrach. We had a teeny, but beautiful wedding in Southern Oregon (where I am from). He lives here in Madrid and also teaches at the American School.
We LOVE to travel and we head out as much as we can. Since we’ve lived here in Spain, we have taken trips all around the world!
In 2014, our daughter Finley was born here in Madrid. We spend most of our time laughing because she has such a great sense of humor!
These adventures are amazing but I still definitely miss my life in Oregon! Family, Target, ENGLISH! I am happily sharing this adventure with you!
